Courses: Advanced Design Studio, Research Design Studio, Graphic Design, Nature Patterns, Architectural Theory

In his pursuit of architectural pedagogy, Aris draws from classical European education, American apprenticeship, and 25 years of working in architectural offices in the EU and the U.S. Aris is an avid thinker in the issues of architecture and design, and his classes offer students the opportunity to expand their mental boundaries to explore advanced ideas. He engages his students as colleagues, supporting their development as unbound thinkers and designers.

During his high school years Aris was tutored by two practicing architects and developed his strong architectural focus. He completed the architecture Biennio studies at the University of Florence, Italy. Aris received his Bachelor of Architectural Studies in 1990, and his Master of Architecture in 1992, from Taliesin, majoring in architecture and graphic design. After graduation, he became a voting Senior Fellow of the Frank Lloyd Foundation in 1996, Assistant Dean for Curriculum in 1998, and Director of Curriculum in 1999. At Taliesin he was apprentice to the late William Wesley Peters, with whom he worked on numerous architectural projects, some of them through construction. Aris also worked as designing architect at the architectural firm of P. Makridis + Associates in Greece, as project manager with Taliesin Architects, as well as graphic designer for the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. After studying tensile structures with Bill Moss Aris developed a tensile membrane installation spaceshaping methodology that holds his research focus.

During a sabbatical, he worked at a technology-focused, marketing firm in Portland, Oregon, where he developed Web-based marketing campaigns for large institutions, while he trained in high-end graphic design and Web development. Aris designed and developed this taliesin.edu site.
