
RLA | Landscape Architecture

Born and raised in Arizona, Mr. Winters studied painting at Arizona State University before transferring to the University of Arizona where he received a bachelor of Landscape Architecture in 1993. Following graduation he took a position with the San Francisco landscape architecture firm of Befu Morris Scardina where he worked exclusively on the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial in Washington D.C. in Association with the office of Lawrence Halprin. Following completion of the memorial project he took a position as head landscape architect with SSH, an architecture and engineering firm located in Kuwait City, Kuwait. While in Kuwait Mr. Winters worked on a wide range of projects with the private and public sectors, including the Kuwaiti Government, US Military and the United Nations.
Mr. Winters returned to Phoenix in 1997 to head the Phoenix office of TMHS Inc., a landscape architecture firm based in Tucson, Arizona, managing projects with the public and private sector. Mr. Winters established Chris Winters & Associates in 1999, which merged in 2006 with ARC Studios. He currently is a principal of the firm.
